2 more RMG units in Bangladesh get LEED Gold certification

Two more readymade garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh were recently certified by the US Green Building Council with gold rating. This takes the total number of LEED factories in the country to 202. Out of that, 73 are rated platinum, 115 gold and 10 silver.

Bangladesh had the highest number of LEED-certified factories in a single year in 2022, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association president Faruque Hassan said in a statement.

Thirty factories received LEED certification last year; 15 were certified platinum and 15 gold.

In the first eight months this year, another 20 factories have earned this recognition, with 13 achieving the platinum rating and seven attaining the gold rating.

Five hundred more factories are in the queue to get the certification, he was quoted as saying by domestic media reports.
