In order to attain LEED certificate from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the Bangladesh Knit Wear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has signed an agreement with Libas Textiles, a Bangladesh based manufacturer and exporter of knitwear garments.

Md. Towhidur Rahman, managing director of Libas Textiles and AH Aslam Sani, first vice president of BKMEA signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations, said a press release.

Green Building and LEED certificates are pre-requisite in order to confirm a factory's ability in ensuring a safe working environment for employees and in preventing any disorder situation in the premises.

Libas Textiles, which counts H&M, C&A, and Tom Tailor among its customers, has already achieved several certifications such as WRAP, BSCI (US and Europe), Oeko-Tex, etc. (RKS)
