Sustainable athletic clothing line The Running Republic has launched its campaign for extraordinary running apparel on Kickstarter with a funding goal of $13,998. The Running Republic’s soft and lightweight clothing is made of recycled polyester and polyamide fibres from post-consumer plastic bottles and fishnets, totally safe for the environment.

Eighty four per cent of the material The Running Republic uses is recycled, and almost 100 percent of the rest is elastane. The Running Republic’s clothing controls moisture and is quick drying, bacteriostatic and UV protected up to UPF 40. It also offers four-way stretch for elasticity and muscle compression to improve performance. The apparel is complete with YKK zippers and reflective details for protection and visibility.

“We run to feel better and connect with the earth. The same earth that we want to protect. We are a movement of conscious and free people. We are a republic. We believe this product perfectly identifies with the millennial eco-runner,” said creator Paolo Quagliotti. “I started working on this project years ago, but the need became more evident recently. When we started looking at materials, we knew we wanted to provide something more fair and sustainable to the market without compromising any technology or aesthetics about the clothing. All of our products are manufactured by socially responsible suppliers, too.”

The Running Republic offers men’s tee shirts, baselayers, woven shorts, hoodies, long tights and a stretch jacket. They also offer women’s tee shirts, tank tops, woven shorts, capri-cut leggings, regular leggings, a hoodie and jacket. Every item is available in men’s sizes S - XXL and women’s sizes XS - XL. (RR)
