The Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Dr. Asgar Samoon handed over certificates to 30 artisans of handicraft department who participated in 21 days orientation programme from February 4 to 25.
The participants were imparted training in carpet weaving at Sangri.
Ministry of Carpet and Textiles Government of India in collaboration with State Handicraft Department had organized the training program.
Computerized design training for carpet weaving was given to the trainees with the help of 10 computers to provide modern technique to carpet weavers.
The Deputy Commissioner encouraged the trainees to produce computerized designs for carpets which can compete at national and international levels.
He also advised them to form groups and work together to expand this ancient trade.
The Joint Director Handicrafts, Mr. Allaqband, Deputy Director, Mtr Shaheena and President chamber of Commerce, Rouf Ahmed were present on this occasion.
