Turkey's carpet exports rise 9.7% in Feb'14: TIM

According to the February 2014 Export Data of TIM, Turkey exported carpets worth $177,167 during the month of February 2014, whereas last year, the country’s carpet exports totaled $161,550 during the same month.

Carpet exports from the country accounted for 1.5 percent of the overall exports made from Turkey during the month of February.

As per the TIM data, the highest exports were made from the machine-made carpets sector with exports worth $168,828 during the month of February, registering a rise of 10.8 percent compared to the same month last year.

Meanwhile, exports from the hand-made carpets sector declined by 8.9 percent to $8,399, during February 2014, compared to the same month in 2013.

During January 2014, the country exported carpets worth $178,414, indicating a rise of 7.5 percent compared to the same month last year.

Carpet exports from Turkey totaled US$ 2.196 billion in 2013, indicating a rise of 9.3 percent year-on-year.
