Turkmen Carpet Day is celebrated, all over the country with zeal on the last Sunday in the month of May, every year.
Concurrent with this event, sixth meet of the World Association of Experts of Turkmen Carpet Weaving was organized, where renowned scientists and researchers from Asian and European countries are present.
At this year's event, Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmen President, said that these carpets have been a vital part of tradition and culture throughout country's history.
A large-scale exposition of handmade carpets and an exhibition of arts and crafts were arranged in front of the Museum of Turkmen Carpet in Ashgabat
Turkmen carpets are exquisite works of art that have special glow created by expertly used combination of colours and designs.
Colours used are mostly natural dyes combined with advanced technique to produce yarn and weave these magnificent carpets provide uniqueness to these products.
