22 Nov '06
1 min read
After a month-long dispute,
Australian Industrial Relations
Commission (AIRC) gave ruling that workers of Feltex were not given an acceptable offer of employment when Godfrey Hirst was planning to take over Feltex.
The Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia
(TCFUA) welcomed this ruling by which workers don't have to sign
Australian Workplace Agreements
(AWAs) and lose their jobs without payment for redundancy.
According to official sources, Senior Deputy AIRC President Ian Watson was not satisfied by AWAs.
This ruling will affect 320 textile workers at
Feltex
.
Godfrey Hirst
is going to revise its proposed offers of employment.
