Hakkari carpets, a cultural heritage of Hakkari, will be shown in fairs in China and Dubai.
170 girls are producing over 200 carpets in Hakkari Kilim Iplik Sanayi AS (HISAS), the city's most important employment firm.
The Governor of Hakkari Ayhan Nasuhbeyoglu stated that the world's most valuable carpets are produced in HISAS.
He added that “This year we have participated in two international carpet fairs. And also our carpets are shown in a fair in Berlin in Germany. Our goal is to participate in fairs that will take place in Dubai and China. For this purpose we prepared a website in 6 languages.”
Nasuhbeyoglu stated that the most valuable carpets in the world are woven in Hakkari and due to the design, color and the root paints used in carpets, Hakkari carpets have the ability of increasing beauty after washing.
