Insights

  • GACL reported FY25 revenue of ₹3,94,480.14 lakhs, up 7.03 per cent YoY, driven by caustic soda (48.3 per cent share), 17.5 per cent growth in chloromethanes, and a 310.5 per cent surge in purified phosphoric acid.
  • Plant utilisation improved sharply, with phosphoric acid reaching 99 per cent.
  • Despite weakness in some products, GACL expanded exports and reinforced its global presence.
Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) reported total revenue from operations of ₹3,94,480.14 lakhs for the financial year ended March 31, 2025, a 7.03 per cent rise from ₹3,68,897.99 lakhs in FY24. Growth was driven by strong performance in caustic soda, chloromethanes, and purified phosphoric acid.

Key Insights

Revenue from caustic soda lye, flakes, and prills stood at ₹1,90,605.84 lakhs, contributing nearly 48.3 per cent of total revenue, supported by demand from alumina, textiles, and pulp & paper industries.

Chloromethanes revenue grew 17.49 per cent YoY on higher offtake from pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Purified phosphoric acid recorded 310.5 per cent growth on strong demand from food processing and specialty chemicals.

However, caustic potash, potassium carbonate, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium chlorate revenues declined due to subdued demand and pricing pressures.

Operational Efficiency

Capacity utilisation improved across key facilities. Chloromethanes plant (Dahej) utilisation rose from 62 per cent in FY24 to 75 per cent in FY25, while purified phosphoric acid plant jumped from 31 per cent to 99 per cent, indicating near-full capacity operations and stronger demand from edible oil, food-grade phosphates, and carbonated drinks.

Exports Footprint

GACL has established a strong global presence by exporting a wide portfolio of its products to international markets. Key exported products include caustic soda lye, caustic soda flakes, caustic soda prills, potassium carbonate, caustic potash flakes, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric acid, liquid chlorine, aluminium chloride, poly aluminium chloride (PAC - Powder), stable bleaching powder, benzyl alcohol, benzyl chloride, hydrochloric acid, and chlorinated paraffin wax (CPW).

These products are supplied to Europe, West Asia, South-East Asia, Africa, Middle East/Far East, and SAARC countries, strengthening Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL)’s position as a trusted global supplier of chlor-alkali and specialty chemical products.

Conclusion

GACL delivered a robust topline performance in FY25, with revenue growth led by core products (caustic soda and chloromethanes) and strategic expansion in purified phosphoric acid. Despite weakness in certain specialty chemicals, the company strengthened its position as a leading player in the Indian chlor-alkali and specialty chemicals sector.
