India recently imposed anti-dumping duties (ADD) on five products—trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA), poly vinyl chloride (PVC) paste resin, a certain thickness of vacuum-insulated flasks, aluminium foil and soft ferrite cores—imported from China to safeguard domestic manufacturers.

The ADD will be applicable for five years on soft ferrite cores, vacuum-insulated flasks and TCCA, while  on aluminium foil, an ADD of up to $873 per tonne has been imposed for six months, according to a notification by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

On vacuum insulated flask, a duty of $1,732 per tonne has been levied.

The duty on PVC paste resin ranges from $89 to $707 per tonne on imports from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Norway, Taiwan and Thailand. This resin is widely used in artificial leather, the automotive sector, coatings and adhesives.

A duty of up to 35 per cent on CIF (cost, insurance, and freight) value has been imposed on soft ferrite cores. These cores are essential components in electric vehicles, chargers and telecom devices.

The duties follow investigations carried out by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Ministry of Commerce after receiving complaints from domestic manufacturers.
