The tentative budgetary requirement for the season is approximately ₹41,533.81 crore (~$5 billion), which is around ₹4,317 crore (~$0.52 billion) higher than the ₹37,216.15 crore (~$4.48 billion) allocated for Kharif 2025, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said in a press release.
Under the NBS scheme, implemented from April 1, 2010, 28 grades of P&K fertilisers are made available to farmers at subsidised rates through manufacturers and importers.
The decision comes in view of recent trends in international prices of fertilisers and key inputs such as urea, DAP, MOP and sulphur. The subsidy will be provided to fertiliser companies as per notified rates to maintain supply and price stability for farmers.
