Insights

  • ENEOS Corporation has signed an MoU with NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, to explore the supply of renewable-based green methanol and hydrogen derivatives from NGEL's upcoming project in Andhra Pradesh, India.
  • Signed during Expo 2025 Osaka, the MoU follows a completed feasibility study and advances Japan-India clean energy collaboration.
ENEOS Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “ENEOS”) hereby announces that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NTPC Green Energy Limited (Head Office: New Delhi; hereinafter “NGEL”), a wholly owned subsidiary of India’s state-owned power company NTPC Limited, regarding the potential supply of renewable energy-derived green methanol and hydrogen derivatives to be produced by NGEL in Andhra Pradesh, India, at the India Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

On October 10, 2025, at a signing ceremony held at India Pavillion, Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, ENEOS Otatsume Satoru, General Manager, Low Carbon Solutions Department and NGEL Shri Ravindra Sudehely, Additional General Manager, exchanged a MOU concerning the supply of green methanol and hydrogen derivative products.

NGEL has just completed the project feasibility study with TOYO Engineering Corporation in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, utilizing the subsidy "Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Business Expense Subsidy” from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). ENEOS has participated in the study in relation to this green methanol supply. With the completion of the feasibility study and the project’s move into the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phase, ENEOS and NGEL were prompted to sign an MOU to accelerate supply-related discussion for this project.

ENEOS and NGEL will maintain close cooperation with the governments and relevant agencies of both countries to build the foundation for the Japan-India energy transition and to support global efforts toward a carbon-neutral society.
