Technip Energies successfully completed the Shell Skyline project at Shell Chemicals Park Moerdijk, Netherlands, modernizing the 16 oldest ethane furnaces of the steam cracker.
The Engineering, Procurement and module Fabrication contract consisted in doubling the capacity of each furnace by using a multi-lane coil design. As a result, the total number of furnaces was reduced to eight while maintaining the facility’s cracking capacity. Ready For Start-Up (RFSU) of the new furnaces was achieved at the end of 2025.
Key drivers for selecting this option were:
The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) exposure related to implementing a project in a plant in operation was mitigated by minimizing field work using a modular approach.
This Shell Skyline project demonstrates Technip Energies’ expertise and innovative approach to complex industrial challenges. It highlights our ability to deliver sustainable solutions and manage large-scale transformations in active plants.
Technip Energies is positioned as a leader in advancing solutions to reduce the carbon intensity of energy.
