Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) sector has enough skilled domestic manpower at the middle level, and therefore, foreign manpower at the same managerial levels is not required anymore, commerce minister Tipu Munshi recently said.

“There is no need to bank on foreign managers anymore,” he said while addressing an event at the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT).

The event awarded certificates to professionals passing out of the BUFT-Export Promotion Board (EPB) post graduate diploma course for mid-level management to create skilled managers in the RMG sector.

The government aimed at minimising dependence on foreign manpower in the RMG sector, Munshi was quoted as saying by Bangladeshi media reports.
