Kid's wear in India rose by 20 percent this year and continues to remain a promising sector.

Yet, Savio Jon, Goa – based Fashion Designer, became the first Indian to venture into childrens designer wear.

This line was displayed at the brand new designer store in Mumbai, Amara.

Collection includes floaty summer dresses and denim skirts with matching tops for girls.

Savio explains that he had been thinking of kids line for some time as he made dresses for his nieces and nephews all the time.

He also said that he enjoyed the children's wear which was simple cotton and comfortable unlike the pouffy, synthetic clothes that are so widely seen everywhere these days.

The young models who sashayed wearing his 20 piece ' capsule' collection, simply loved the clothes.

His line doesn't seem to be very affordable as an appliquéd jacket costs about Rs1600.

Savio says that cost is the biggest turnoff of this line. Though the material required is less, the workmanship and the hard work in making these clothes is the same, if not more, than that put in the garments for adults.

He is optimistic, saying that when the demand emerges, he will dedicate entire collection to this segment. He also says that volume will decide the cost.
