Textile and apparel industry of France stabilized after experiencing continued erosion in production in 2005. October saw a record low production.
November gives indication of stabilized production just above previous lows. According to a production index (2000=100), textile production touched 69.00 mark in November, indicating 8.9 percent year-on-year drop.
However, this was up slightly from the record low production of 66.70 in October.
Apparel sector also showed its growth in November as measured by the index that reached 49.90, reflecting 5.5 percent year-on-year drop, at the same time it was above the record low of 48.30 in October.
French textile and apparel industry began experiencing 5 to 6 percent drop in production in 2005.
The textile and apparel production will be record low in quantity, but the drop in production will slowdown from 6.8 to 11.0 percent experienced in 2004 and 7.4 to 17.9 percent drop in 2003.
