A rich green lehenga – the traditional lower wear of Indian women, sported by the 27-year-old Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, in forthcoming Hindi film ‘Ram Leela’ has garnered huge interest from the entire Indian fashion industry.

The much talked about costume featured in the first promotional look of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie has been designed by the famous Indian couturier Anju Modi.

The 30 kilograms heavy lehenga, donned by the model-turned-actress in the promo, is sumptuously detailed with intricate embroidery from Kutch’s royal lineage along with a dash of contemporary elements carefully thrown in.

Still under production, the movie Ram Leela, which also stars actor Ranveer Singh in the lead, is scheduled to be released on November 29, 2013.

Anju Modi, who started her clothing line ‘House of Modi’ in 1990, has been an integral part of the Indian fashion industry since its inception days.

Having won many accolades in her illustrious fashion career of more than two decades, the designer is one of the founder members of the FDCI (Fashion design Council of India).
