An 'intelligent' textile which measures the size of human body, has been developed and patented by the Institute of Textile Technology, AITEX , Spain.
This 'intelligent' clothing fructified through a collaboration with La Salle University in Barcelona which has designed two models: one from lycra, and the other a type of knitted fabric.
Purpose behind this project is to develop elasticated clothing which will be able sense three-dimensional body volumes.
