Textile & apparel exports to Canada soar 54.8%

General Customs informed that during the first half of 2006 Vietnam's textile and garment exports to Canada earned US $44.8 million, registering year–on–year rise of 54.8 percent.

This is positive result in strengthening economic ties between Canada and Vietnam, where textile and garment sectors play key role.

Among goods exporting to Canada, elastic shirt made up largest contribution with $9.2 million, up by more than 78 percent over same period 2005.

Canadian consumers have favorable taste on many Vietnamese products, presenting huge opportunities for domestic enterprises.

These major goods included swimming suit worth $383,000, Jacket suit for $7.9 million (+ 12 percent), shorts earned $2.75 million (+70 percent), overcoat at $2.75 million (+ 45 percent), children wears reached $1.9 million (+46 percent).
