97-year-old gown still trailing down the aisle

An ancient wedding dress made of Japanese silk some 97 years ago has been worn by six brides of a single family.

The dress — which was made in Hong Kong and adorned with hundreds of pearls — was recently worn by Charlotte Middleton, who chose the family heirloom over buying a brand new dress for her special day. She was the sixth in the line of brides determined to keep the family tradition alive.

The gown was first worn by Charlotte's great-grandmother, Pauline Fithian in 1910. Charlotte's mother wore it in 1975. Now, in 2007, she was ecstatic to see her daughter take her vows in the same dress.

Charlotte's mother has decided to continue to preserve the dress for any Watson bride who wishes to wear it and say, "I do".
