Prasenjit Kundu, a second year student of National Institute of Design in the faculty of apparel designing and merchandising, has invented a special garment to make every-day life seem more comfortable and effortless.
This special garment is a unique jacket that will massage, relax and soothe your body muscles. The jacket can be easily worn while you're attending a meeting, watching a movie or even while you're driving.
Moreover, the right pocket of the jacket has a plug to attach an MP3 player or an iPod. In an exclusive interview with Fibre2fashion, Prasenjit Kundu said “This is a multisensory jacket with in-built vibration massage which is run by a single rechargeable battery power. This jacket can be worn or used any where and anytime for relaxation. This outfit looks exactly like a normal jacket which can be worn without letting any other person knowing that you're wearing anything special."
He added, "Along with this, you can enjoy your favorite music while massaging your back and shoulder as you can attach your I-pod or mp3 player with an in-built earphone and experience instant refreshment.”
When asked how he came across this idea, Mr Kundu stated “This is basically one of our classroom projects, in which I worked on 'smart apparel' that has something to do with 'wearable electronics' as a source of 'entertainment'. I choose to work for the corporate professionals as my client group, and through this design process studies, the idea of this interesting 'multisensory jacket' had come to my mind.”
The design process took nearly two months and research studies involved ideation, client profile study, human anatomy study, technical studies, and design process studies (inspiration, look, color, construction etc).
Prasenjit Kundu also told our correspondent, “The jacket is in its prototyping stage and it will definitely take some amount of time to reach the commercial market”.
