Fur industrial output grows in 2008

In the first quarter of 2008, the total industrial output value of Chinese above-scale enterprises dealing with fur and related products reached 4.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent, two percentage points faster in growth.

Fur clothing production registered 520,000 pieces, an increase of 8 percent over the same time last year, but 8 percentage points below the growth rate of the same period last year.

The first quarter of 2008 achieved nearly US $120 million of fur product exports, a year-on-year decrease of 8 percent, but 35 percentage points slower in growth. Meanwhile, imports marked $70 million, an increase of 9 percent from the same time last year.
