German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in a joint effort with Textiles Committee, Tirupur, would launch a training programme to find eco-friendly substitute of CTC usage in textile industry, media release.

Every year, Indian textile industry consumes more than 1500 tons of Carbon Tetrachloride (CTC) to remove stains from garments, cleaning or degreasing of metal parts and machinery, servicing garment-making machinery.

GTZ Proklima International would replace Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) with eco-friendly substances and processes.

Small-scale consumers in the sub-segments of garment cleaning as well as metal cleaning are also being considered by GTZ Proklima, said the media.

This programme intends to train shop-floor managers on the proper use of CTC alternatives. The programme will last till December 16.
