UK CPI for clothing, footwear falls 3.9% in Jan 2024 on monthly basis

On a monthly basis, CPI fell by 0.6 per cent in January 2024—the same rate as in January 2023.

Core CPI—excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco—rose by 5.1 per cent in the 12 months to January, the same rate as in December 2023.

The annual rate of goods CPI slowed from 1.9 per cent to 1.8 per cent.

The CPI for clothing and footwear rose by 5.6 per cent in the 12 months to January 2024; the figure was 6.4 per cent in December 2023.

On a monthly basis, the CPI for clothing and footwear fell by 3.9 per cent in January this year; the drop rate was 3.2 per cent in January 2023.
