The main focus was the presentation of the position of the Textile and Clothing sector towards the emerging EU Research and Innovation policy. The key concepts underlying the EU's Innovation Union policy which will set the scene for the EU strategy and funding programmes for Research and Innovation during the 2013 to 2020 timeframe were presented by Mr. Tonnie De Koster, Head of the Innovation Policy unit at DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission. In the following Euratex, Textranet and AUTEX shared their opinions on the experience with the current research and innovation support programmes as well as their needs and wishes for the future programmes. These opinions will be integrated over the coming weeks into a common position paper to be presented at various occasions to EU policy makers involved in the preparations for the future programmes over the coming months.
