10% CAGR growth likely for Indian women ethnic wear market

Wider acceptance due to rise in disposable income and more women joining the workforce has resulted in the Indian women ethnic wear market growing rapidly over the past few years, according to a report, which attributes religious and cultural diversity with a wide range of festivals and celebratory occasions as a key driving factor behind this trend.

The Indian women ethnic wear market, segmented into saree, salwar kameez, kurta/kurti and lehenga, is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10 per cent between 2018 and 2022, says the report titled ‘Women Ethnic Wear: The Changing Paradigm’ by Dublin-based market research firm Research and Markets.
