CPI for clothing-footwear in Italy rises by 0.3% MoM, 3.3% YoY in May

The consumer price index (CPI) for clothing and footwear in Italy saw a 0.3 per cent month-on-month (MoM) rise and a 3.3 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in May this year.

The rate of change of the Italian CPI for the whole nation (NIC) in the month was 0.3 per cent on monthly basis and 7.6 per cent on annual basis (from 8.2 per cent in April), according to government statistics. The flash estimate was 7.6 per cent.

The slowdown of the annual inflation rate was mainly due to the prices of non-regulated energy products.

The core inflation (all-items excluding energy and unprocessed food) was 6 per cent—down from 6.2 per cent in April—and the all-items index excluding energy was 6.2 per cent—down from 6.3 per cent in the previous month.

The YoY growth rate for goods was 9.3 per cent—down from 10.3 per cent in April.

The country’s harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 0.3 per cent on a monthly basis and by 8 per cent on an annual basis in May from 8.6 per cent in the previous month). The flash estimate was 8.1 per cent.
