The infant apparel market in China is growing at a phenomenal pace that is very much higher than the rate of growth of Chinese garment sector as a whole.

According to a research report published by the US consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, Chinese infant clothing market is currently growing at an average of 17.6 percent compound growth rate annually.

The size of the Chinese infant garment market has increased to 34.8 billion Yuan due to several years of rapid growth, the report said.

The American firm expects the Chinese infant clothing market to grow to 227.98 billion Yuan by 2015. It expects the annual growth rate to keep above 18 percent for the next five years, much higher than the growth rate of Chinese apparel sector.

The infant apparel market in China will maintain its strong momentum of development and further transit towards brand specialization and market concentration, the report says.

In recent times, the spending power of Chinese people has increased enormously and the only child in a family receives lot of affection. This has created significant potential and several businesses are trying to capture the huge market created by the single child group.
