Apparel sales are likely to rise in Central European countries at a steady pace for the next two years, according to a report released by PMR, a UK-US joint venture research institution.

The report states that clothing, including footwear, sales in five Central European countries – Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia – have grown at a steady pace since 2010, while the sales have grown at a rapid pace in Poland.

In 2011, the textile and apparel market in Central Europe grew by one percent year-on-year to €13 billion.

The report expects the textile and garment market in the six Central European countries to grow to €14 billion by 2014.

The report forecasts modest growth in the Central European apparel market over the next two years.

During the next three-year period, PMR expects clothing sales in Poland, Romania and Bulgaria to grow by over 11 percent, 10 percent and nine percent, respectively.
