Country's apparel production soared to record levels at 1.355 billion pieces in August.
According to figure released by the Ministry of Commerce, the apparel output was 7.382 billion pieces during January-August period, this year registering third consecutive month of record apparel output.
This clearly indicates the march stolen by downstream industries over the textile maker of the country, which are saddled with inventories, as the textile row with the US remains unresolved.
A big respite for all however, was the unblocking of textiles by the European Union recently.
January -August period this year the cumulative apparel production showed 22.5 percent year-on-year growth.
Almost all segments of the apparel sector recorded rise in output; with knit apparel rising 32.5 percent, woven apparel by 31.6 percent, shirts by 17.9 percent and lower apparel at 26.3 percent.
But, putting all figures under shade was the children's apparel output, which recorded a stupendous 101.5 percent rise and its total for January-August period shooting up to 117 percent.
