US apparel firm Deckers Brands' sales up 21.3% in Q2FY23

The net sales of Deckers Brands, a global leader in designing, marketing, and distributing innovative footwear, apparel, and accessories, increased 21.3 per cent to $875.6 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2023 compared to $721.9 million in the same quarter of previous year. On a constant currency basis, net sales increased 24.8 per cent.

In the second quarter, domestic net sales increased 20.0 per cent to $617.7 million compared to $514.6 million. International net sales rose 24.4 per cent to $257.9 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2023 compared to $207.3 million. Wholesale net sales grew 16.7 per cent to $636.5 million compared to $545.2 million. Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) net sales climbed 35.3 per cent to $239.1 million in the second quarter compared to $176.7 million. Comparable DTC net sales rose 38.2 per cent, the company said in a press release.

"Deckers' strong performance in the first half of fiscal year 2023 is a testament to our team's execution, despite a challenging macroeconomic backdrop," said Dave Powers, president and chief executive officer. "As we head into the UGG brand's peak selling season and continue to fuel expanding demand for HOKA performance footwear, we are confident in our ability to deliver our maintained full year guidance."

For 2023, net sales are still expected to be in the range of $3.45 billion to $3.50 billion and gross margin is now expected to be approximately 50.5 per cent.
