The Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s (ICAR) Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT) in Mumbai, Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) in Akola and ICAR’s Central Institute for Cotton Research in Nagpur recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Mumbai for promoting naturally-coloured cotton production and its value-addition.
PDKV vice chancellor VM Bhale said ICAR-CICR has provided the seed of the coloured cotton and production is being taken up in 50 acres at PDKV under the programme. The initiative will serve as a field demonstration to farmers. The cotton obtained will be processed by ICAR-CIRCOT for making value-added products, according to an ICAR press release. (DS)
