Shankar-6 cotton prices up 10.56% in Sept

In a matter of a fortnight, Shankar-6 raw cotton prices have steadily increased and have jumped above 10 percent in the month of September 2011 in the Ahmedabad market.

Raw cotton prices which were quoting at Rs 38,000 per candy (1 candy = 356 Kg) on September 1, rose to Rs 40,000 per candy on September 7, up 5.26 percent.

Thereafter prices ascended to Rs 41,000 per candy on September 12 and stayed steady for two more days.

On September 15, Shankar-6 prices leaped by 2.43 percent to Rs 42,000 per candy, when compared with those prevailing on September 14. Overall, in the first fortnight, cotton prices surged by 10.52 percent.
