Azerbaijan's cotton export rises significantly

Raw cotton exports from Azerbaijan have risen significantly during the first eight months of 2011.

In January-August period, the country exported cotton worth US$ 4.344 million, showing more than 93 percent growth compared to cotton exports worth US$ 2.248 million achieved during the corresponding period of 2010, according to the State Customs Committee data.

However, cotton exports accounted for mere 0.02 percent of the country's total exports during the eight-month period.

Azerbaijan had exported 3,738.2 tons of raw cotton in 2010, amounting to US$ 5.249 million.
