Turkmen cotton farmers achieve production targets

Cotton farmers of Turkmenistan have met 90 percent of their production targets for the current season, said Vice-Premier Mammetniyaz Nurmammedov at a meeting.

He said the harvesting was nearing completion and figures indicated that the cotton output was near the targeted figures.

According to him, the country has harvested 1.05 million tons of raw cotton from 550,000 hectares.

The cotton will be processed in around 36 ginneries spread across the country and will be sold to domestic and overseas buyers through the through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan.
