Imported cotton prices were overall stable at main ports of China on December 19, but prices of U.S cotton, Brazilian cotton and Egyptian long-staple cotton fell.
With the decline in ICE futures and impending expiry of import quotas, transactions of spot foreign cotton were relatively quiet, textile mills continued to focus on low-priced varieties.
Cotton grade SM 1-1/8 ", US C/A cotton was quoted at 103.10 cents / lb, which is equivalent to 17,148 Yuan / ton, when converted by means of sliding duty.
US E/MOT cotton was quoted at 97.30 cents / lb, which was equivalent to 16,241 Yuan / ton. US cotton grade E/MOT M 1-3/32" was quoted at 94.60 cents / lb or 15,810 Yuan / ton.
Australian cotton was quoted at 109.85 cents / lb, which is equivalent to 18,223 Yuan / ton. Uzbekistan cotton was quoted at 110.85 cents / lb or 18,387 Yuan / ton.
West African cotton was quoted at 97.90 cents / lb or 16,340 Yuan / ton.
