SENASA & SENAVE JV for control of Picudo cotton plant

The National Service of Health and Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASA) announced that it signed an agreement with the National Service of Quality and Vegetal Health and Semillas (SENAVE) of Paraguay, to apply the Program of Bilateral Technical Cooperation for the control of the Picudo of the cotton plant, in which it constitutes the first passage towards the concretion of the Regional Program of Control and Eradication of that plague, decided by the presidents Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay.

One looks for to obtain the control of the Mexican Picudo of the cotton plant (anthonomus grandis B) in the Paraguayan territory for which the program will begin in the Department of Ñeembucú, with the possibility that it extends, later, to other departments of the Eastern region of that country.

In the first stage of execution of the program the control activities will be developed, according to the technical indications of the SENASA for the control of the picudo of the cotton plant in Paraguay, contemplating in addition the norm established by the SENAVE.

In that frame the Argentine sanitary organism will give in comodato to its Paraguayan pair 140 manual knapsacks of 20 liters of capacity; 40 pairs of gloves of acrilonitrilo; 60 semimàscaras protective; 60 filters for masks; 60 antiparras acrylic and 200 liters of piretroide.

The activities will include/understand: monitoreo of the plague and installation of traps, fitosanitarios treatments of the culture, related applications of the practical standardses and legal procedures to the vegetal health and of the medio.ambiente.
