March too posts huge hike in Chinese cotton imports

After a stupendous hike in February cotton imports, Chinese March cotton imports rose marginally from its previous month, but went up colossally from a year earlier.

China imported 625,200 tons of cotton in March 2012, up just 1.49 percent from February 2012, but hiked massively by 126.2 percent from a year ago.

Between Sept 2011 to March 2012, China imported 3.2414 million tons of cotton, a rise of 1.504 million tons or 86.64 percent year on year.

In the first three months of 2012, China imported a total of 1.5678 million tons of cotton, an increase of 715,900 tons or up 84.0 percent year on year.
