Cotton exports from Pakistan touched a record level in fiscal year 2011-2012 that ended on June 30, 2012.

The country exported 1.5 million cotton bales during July to June 2011-12, fetching a sum of more than US$ 425 million.

In fiscal 2010-11, Pakistan exported 1.0 million bales of cotton. Thus, this year the country’s exported cotton quantity increased by a remarkable 50 percent.

Pakistan sold cotton to other countries in the price range of 82 to 92 cents per pound and due to the dollar-rupee disparity, Pakistan earned more revenue during 2011-12 compared to the previous year.

In the outgoing fiscal 2011-2012, Pakistan’s textile sector procured more than 11.5 million cotton bales, while the country’s total production increased to a whopping 15.6 million bales.
