The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) had alleged that TDAP is not registering and processing documents to export raw cotton to India and other countries.
The source told fibre2fashion that a previous government order had expired, but now a new order has been issued, which permits Pakistani exports of cotton, due to which they have now started registering and processing documents.
This may come as a shot in the arm for Pakistani cotton exporters at a time when Indian cotton imports are surging.
Reacting to the news, PCGA Chief - Amanullah Qureshi told fibre2fashion, “We welcome the order of TDAP and hope that our cotton exports to India and the rest of the world will jump in the next few months”.
He added, “Our first preference to export cotton is to India and we would like to take full advantage of the ongoing surge in cotton imports by India. We can export around 5 million bales this season as we have a surplus of three million bales”.
