Egypt continues to export Giza cotton

Egypt exported 2,455 tons of cotton during the week ending August 23, according to the Alexandria Cotton Exporters Association.
 
Of the exported quantity, 2,022 tons were of Giza 86 variety, while 433 tons were of Giza 88 variety, the association said.
 
Since the beginning of the cotton marketing year on September 1, 2011, Egypt has so far exported 88,814 tons of cotton earning revenue of US$ 275.3 million.
 
Egypt is known for producing the world’s finest extra-long staple cotton, which finds use in high-quality apparels owing to it being softer and stronger than shorter staple cotton varieties.
 
Bangladesh, Switzerland and India are among the major exporters of Egyptian cotton.
