Mr Amanullah Qureshi – President of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) is however of the opinion that irrespective of the huge cotton stock, China will continue to purchase cotton in the new season.

Giving reasons, he said, “Pakistan has lost approximately lost 2.5 million bales (1 bale = 160 kg) due to the floods. Secondly, India too may have a lower crop this year, due to scarce rains. This will mean a shortage of raw cotton in the export market, which will in turn, help prop up or at least stabilize prices”.
