China announces cotton import quota for 2013

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that cotton import quota for 2013 would be 894,000 tons, of which 33 percent would be reserved for state-owned enterprises.
 
Mr. Zhang Xiaoqiang, Deputy Director of NDRC said that China’s actual cotton production in 2012 is likely to be around 6.9 million tons, down 4.2 percent or 300,000 tons compared to last year.
