Cotton fabric exports saw highest growth

Cotton fibre exports registered expansion from January to November 2005.

Exports increased 4.9 percent to US $42.63 million.

However, cotton yarn exports fell by 37.0 percent to US $44.739 million because of weaker sales in United States.

Cotton blend yarn export expanded 135.6 percent to 3.261 million US dollars.

Cotton fabric witnessed highest expansion with Light Weight cotton fabric exports rose by 446.0 percent to US $26.141 million.

While, exports of Heavy weight cotton fabric increased only by 11.8 percent to US $61.059 million.

Talking about imports, cotton imports went down 17.4 percent to US $443.25 million.

Yarn imports were flat at 43.684 million US dollars. Cotton fabric imports grew 12.4 percent in the light weight fabric, while dropping 0.4 percent in the heavy weight fabrics.
