Chinese cotton imports continue to fall in Feb

China's cotton imports continued to fall in February 2013, but the average price rose slightly, according to customs statistics.
 
China imported 378,800 tons of cotton in February 2013, a decrease of 78,700 tons or 17% from the previous month and a reduction of 237,300 tons or 38.5% year on year.
 
The average import price was US $1,878 / ton, $12 or 0.7% higher than January, but down 18.7% year on year.
 
China totally imported 2.207 million tons of cotton in the first six months of 2012-13 cotton season, down 15.6% year on year.
 
The country also imported 836,000 tons of cotton in the first two months of 2013, a decrease of 11.3% year-on-year.
