Meager demand of spinners pushes select cotton prices down

Thin demand from spinners and exporters at East India Cotton Exchange in Mumbai has pushed down the prices of select cotton.

Prices in cotton varieties like V-797, NH-44, LRA and 22-MM decreased by Rs200 per candy following more offers by stockists, however Y-1 and H-4 eased by Rs100 per candy as a result of thin buying.

New cotton spot rates per candy in rupees are as follows:

Bengal Desi: 13,100, Gujarat Wagad: Unq, V-797: 13,000, Karnataka Jayadhar: 14,000, Punjab J-34: 15,000, Y-1: 12,800, NHH-44: 15,000, LRA: 16,100, H-4: 16,900, S-6-A grade: 18,200, MCU-5: 22,400, DCH-32: 43,500, Bunny: 19,500, Brahma: 18,000 and 26-MM: 16,000.
