Cotton Incorporated will honor renowned quilt designer, Denyse Schmidt, with an event celebrating her latest book, as well as the designer's 10th anniversary of operation to be held at the American Museum of Art and Design on March 30, 2006.

Dana Poor, Cotton Incorporated home trend forecaster, comments, “Denyse Schmidt has elevated quilt making to the level of haute couture for the home. Her designs are chic and contemporary, brightening up any room. At the same time, details like hand stitching help retain the sense of traditionalism so desirable in a quilt.”

The event will celebrate Schmidt's contributions to the quilting industry including her collectible couture quilts, which are sold in such well-known outlets as Takashimaya in New York City and Garnet Hill.

The evening is co-sponsored by Chronicle Books, publisher of Schmidt's latest book, Denyse Schmidt Quilts: 30 Colorful Quilts and Patchwork Projects, and Sarita Handa Exports, with whom Denyse Schmidt Quilts licenses designs for quality machine production.

The evening will include a book signing, live music and a preview of new products from Schmidt's studio, such as a new fabric collection, new products from Chronicle Books, and new quilt designs from Denyse Schmidt for Sarita Handa.

Cotton Incorporated, funded by US growers of upland cotton and importers of cotton and cotton textile products, is the research and marketing company representing upland cotton. The Program is designed and operated to improve the demand for and profitability of cotton.
