According to a sample survey of textile enterprises in China, they had cotton inventory that can last for about 37.1 days, including the imported cotton arrived at port, as on April 9, 2013.

The cotton inventory was less by 3.7 days compared to the stock held by these enterprises a month ago.

According to the data, total cotton inventory with Chinese textile firms was about 812,000 tons, showing a decline of 9.1 percent month-on-month and 14.7 percent year-on-year. Comparing with average inventory over the past three years, the latest cotton inventory showed a decrease of 21.4 percent.

Thus, overall cotton stock with textile firms in China is temporarily tight, in spite of the Government releasing stock from its cotton reserves earlier this year.
