Chinese cotton imports dip in April

China’s cotton imports in April dipped from the previous month and also year-on-year, while average price rose from March.
 
China's cotton imports reached 430,900 tons in April 2013, down 97,900 tons, or 18.5 percent from the previous month, and down 15.5 percent year on year, according to customs statistics.
 
The average import price was US $1,942 / ton, up US $60 compared with March, but down 18.4 percent year on year.
 
In the first eight months of cotton year 2012-13, China’s total imports reached 3.167 million tons, down 15.6 percent year on year, while in the first four months of  2013, China’s total imports fetched 1.796 million tons, a decrease of 13.5 percent year on year.
