First textile unit with Turkish aid

Turkey is fast emerging as an important financier in the world as it is the largest investor in Turkmenistan's domestic textile sector.
A new textile manufacturing plant is being built in Tajikistan by a Turkish group, which will include spinning, weaving and cut -sew operation.
This is the first new textile plant to be planned here, in years.
Spinning operation is expected to consume 8,000 tons of cotton each year.
This unit is scheduled to start operations by mid-2007 and will push up demand for cotton domestically.
Local textile industry is expected to consume just 150,000 bales of cotton through 2005-2006.
